5 tips to improve a poorly performing website

If your website is not delivering for you then the good news is that there is huge opportunity to improve your outcomes...   in exchange for a little effort.

Above all please DONT throw money at a new website, design or SEO campaign before you know where you are at now..  or you will simply have a longer, expensive delay before you start on the road to get results... and likely damage your outcomes anyway,

1. WHERE ARE YOU AT NOW.

Start with working out what is working now...  if you have a website then make sure you have Google Analytics ( a free Google tool) installed. It will tell you where your traffic comes from, how much traffic you get, what pages people visit most and where they leave.

2. IDENTIFY WHATS NOT WORKING

Once you have Google Analytics installed then start to look at the data. What part of the process is broken? Do you get plenty of visitors but they all leave your home page, do you not get enough visitors, do they all baulk at the length of our contact form.....    you should only start to make changes once you know whats not working

3. PLAN TO TEST SOME CHANGES

Once you know whats broken then you can start to make changes, if its (1) Traffic - then we recommend to start by finding out who your target audience is, and where they search for the product or service you provide. You can get reports that show EXACTLY who is looking for what and where..... then you can work out what is the best digital marketing strategy to reach them (2) if its conversion on site then you should deploy some A-B or variant testing code. So you can create different pages and see what changes actually influence conversion the most

4. CHOOSE YOUR KPIS

Before you make any changes ensure you have some KPI's in place so you can measure the effect of the change.

5.CHANGE,  MEASURE, IMPROVE

Once the test is complete you can decide which changes to implement, make them live then look at the rest of your data to see whats the next thing to fix or test..
